Using Unlicensed Music

When did sponsors decide that it was ok to use other peoples work in their banner designs? I'm talking about Lightspeed, GTS and any other sponsor who's using or has used music in their banner ads.

Do you really think that any of these companies are forking over licensing fees or royalties to these bands? Come on. This is no different than if you or I logged into a Lightspeed site, snagged some content and built my own site.

People are constantly jumping on others for stealing ideas, designs and content. But in this case of blatant theft, people decide to kiss ass.

well i think it's because they aren't stealing from their fellow pornographers. it's still copyright theft but not as bad as stealing from within the 'family' and they're not directly making money from it.

Come on now. Do you really think that Lightspeed or GTS shelled out THOUSANDS of $$$ to use those songs in their banners?

My buddies band had of a song of their in the American Pie 2 movie. Their a small independant band and made $12,000 for allowing use of one of their tunes in the movie.

I'm sure Metallica and the Beastie Boys command a much higher price.

screw the banners, how bout when they use the music in their videos.

it's one thing to promote your site with it, but to actually have the nerve to showcase it in your content?

fucked up if you ask me.

That's my whole point man. People have gotten on my case, when infact I hadn't taken anything from anyone. People can claim I have, but the truth is...I didn't. But a few big name industry companies do it and every kisses their ass or looks the other way.

They have to pay to play if they're using existing music or songs that belong to someone else. There's no way around that.

ALL of the model sites for one thing.....im not saying the big companies are doing this....i make it a point to stay away from their sites....however, almost every amateur site i go to and download their video content, it all contains unlicensed music.

I guess girls need to strip to good music?

Are the songs edited into the videos, or is it music playing in the background? I think that the second one might be legal, but I'm not positive so don't quote me on it.

Can't have music playing *anywhere* on a video...as long as it's recognizable. If it is, and you're using the video for commercial purposes (duh) then you've just opened the door to getting sued. It's that simple. I've been in the member's area of some huge sites and heard models stripping to Joe Walsh and Aerosmith songs...crazy. Why even fuck with that shit? Chances are, you're probably not gonna get hit...but what if you do? In addition to the headache of the lawsuit, now you gotta go redo all your work?

ANd I'll finish with this -- ever wonder why, in every porn DVD/VHS you watch, the music sucks??

There's a reason folks...trust me here.

You haven't proven anything asshole. I built galleries that looked like yours. I didn't steal anything. I took your idea and built upon it. You don't like it...I'm fine with that, but I didn't steal anything.

Lightspeed, GTS and others are BLATENTLY using other people's music for their own commercial purposes...and everyone here seems to look the other way or kiss their ass.

You can lie all you want.

ESTABLISHED people here, DESIGNERS alike have seen the designs and although it has been awhile, and most of the people here may not know it, you were proven to be a crook.

Its as simple as that.

No matter how much you deny it.

Thats the funny thing, youre starting to believe your lies now.

People, dont believe ME or Berardi here.

You can check the link for yourself.

tell me, who would you believe.

The guy who bought templates and then 1 month later found the same templates in my portfolio?

or the guy saying "i didnt copy your galleries"

yet I showed the templates side by side at one time?

Jason, no matter how many times you lie, it wont change it.

so go aheadlie all you want. and the guy who said you were stealing bandwidth and fucking him over while you were working for him, is a liar to, isnt that why HE FIRED YOU CROOK???

the facts were put out long ago, by the guy you sold my templates to.

read the link dont read candyflips lies

Feel free to contact Sharky my man. He and I worked that out. I was using GallerySubmitter.com to handle some of the submissions I was doing for them. The program was logging in and updating the recips. All the bandwidth burned was for Sharky's galleries. Broda verified that GallerySubmitter was indeed logging in and updating. I wasn't stealing his bandwidth. I've got two servers of my own and don't even use up all my own each month

If you consider me to be a thief, what do you think of companies like Lightspeed and GTS that are actually using and profiting from other people's work?
