you know what D-money - the players ball at internext was out of controll - it's wasn't about industry players anymore - the few days i spent in Vegas before the players ball tons of locals were talking about it and how they crashed it.

The smaller shows are where it's at - it's where the REAL players show up these days - and taking the players ball on the road and getting associated with the smaller shows that have a MUCH HIGHER PERCENTAGE of REAL players that attend will be a GOOD MOVE and one I'm behind 100%

sorry to hear about what happened to your wife

As many of you know, Jen had been with AVN for 9 years and while she is hardly credited for most of her accomplishments while working there- she was instrumental in their growth and it's development of AVN ONLINE.

I feel like there's been a death in my household to say the least.

I apologize to all the webmasters who were planning on coming to FLA just to attend the Player's Ball. I appreciate your support over the years and look very much forward to taking the Player's Ball's to new heights- and of course I still want to see as many webmasters at my parties as possible.

For those of you coming to San Diego June 10th for the Cybernet Expo Players Ball to see Eek-A-Mouse at Canes, we still look forward to seeing you party with us in full force.

This does not mean this is the end of the Players Balls. This is just a new beginning for the Players Ball. Look for the rebirth and annoucements in the near future.

For those that aren't aware of the history of the Players Ball, we've had a streak of 11 Players Ball's catering to Internext dating back to IA2000, never missing one show.
Darren,

Please have Jennifer contact me or send me her contact information.

That sucks, AVN seems to be making a lot of mistakes recently?

We called for advertising the other day and was ready to spend some money on a 1-2 full page ad. But AVN could not accomodate our request....

Oh well, our money can be spent elsewhere on other advertising.

Holy shit, Andy "Old School" Chandler!

I'm calling you tomorrow player, KB says what's up, he's next to me. He misses your limo and everything that came with it.

For those that don't know Andy, he's a player 4 life.

Love the posts in this thread and the feedback.

That's a shame.

One of my very first, and still best experiences at a trade show involved Humpty from Digital Underground, blackjack table and 6 in the morning. First time I met D-money and crew and the whole thing was off the hook.

Just makes internext that much LESS desirable to go to now.

It's definitely one of the directions I've been headed with doing the Cybernet Expo. We have a brand amongst webmasters and mainstream that needs to be explored further. I'm excited to see what the Ball will evolve into, I'll be putting more work into them then ever.

I personally enjoy the smaller Players Balls in smaller venues. It's more intimate for webmasters, easier to network and do business while partying.

My problem is I still want to do Snoop Dogg or 50 Cent for my big Ball next year, it's hard to raise that kind of money these days. However, I still promise I will find a way to make that happen again, in a small setting. Where there's a will, there's a way. No doubt I have the will. Maybe Andy can help make that happen. I've personally put a deal together once that was much larger, with Andy, he remembers that.

Jen is a real loss to AVN.... to most webmasters - Jen WAS AVNOnline, front & center.

So Jen, who is going to haul up those magazines? :-)

D$ & Jen,

It truly broke my heart to hear what had happened, it's like a light went out over at AVN. I can't even imagine what it would be like to wake up every morning for 9 years and go to the same place to give 110% of you because of how much you care and have it come to a sudden stop. I can relate to what D said about it feeling like a death in the family... AVN was family. Luckily, the family is much greater than that, there is so much love and support out there for you guys!!!

The last few shows have not been the same without "the family." Everyone asked me at least 10 times where you guys were!!! Do you realize we have traveled the world together as a family? It's been sad not to have you guys around

I agree with Adam and J$tyles that when the dust settles you will find yourself at a much better place. I know Jen is going to have sooooooooo many job offers, she is going to be glad a door closed. With your experience, track record, and reputation, you can truly write your own ticket. The only thing I truly hope for is that she will take some time off to relax and just smell the roses... Jen's worked too hard for the last 9 years. You deserve a break sistah!

As for the Player's Ball, I am glad that you are expanding your horizons and taking it elsewhere. This party has legs, glad you are letting it walk! This change will also bring some excitement to the smaller shows that are becoming ever so popular!

I think nothing but greatness is in store for the Money Family and I'm looking forward to helping it come to fruition.

Much love to you both,
Leslie

Wow, this will have a huge effect on the success of the AVN Internext shows. It must have been pretty substantial situation for you to have a professional relationship affected by a personal situation but like someone already said, "A pimp's gotta do what a pimp's gotta do?. I have been in situations where you have to show your loyalty to your wife, even if it means severing relationships.

Don't know the story. Won't get into AVN who I've had good relations with. Will say this though ...

Jen is a treasure and a rare talent. She'll land on her feet and do great wherever she goes, and whatever she does. And any company would be very very fortunate to have her!

That, and D$, got your back anytime you need it. Nuff said.

I don't know why AVN fired Jen, but AVN was responsible for Luke Ford being forced out as the writer for AdultBeat. Lately, AVN has been acting like a 5,000 pound gorilla.

Pretty and talented Jen will do just fine, and so will The Players Ball.

Keep the faith, D$.

D$, is this true?

http://www.lukeisback.com
AVN Fires Advertising Manager Jennifer Rosenblatt

At Scott Fayner's well attended birthday party at Club Ice on Cahuenga Wednesday night, I heard speculation that AVN VP Darren Roberts was behind the firing. According to speculation, those parts of the AVN empire that Darren runs are more profitable than the parts that Paul Fishbein runs. Therefore, he's achieved more power in the AVN machine and he made the decision to get rid of Jenn.

I also hear that Farley Cahan, head of AVN Online, and AVN editor and publisher Tim Connelly were glad to see her go.

I understand that the primary reason for the firing was financial. Jenn's contract and annual salary was just demanding more money than AVN wanted to pay her. This firing has been in the works for about six months.

I'm sure that Jen will land on her feet with another great position; as bidding for her will be fierce.

My personal misgivings about the now faceless machine called AVN, and with no disrespect to either Jen or D$ intended; you guys who claim to only attend the shows to get access to a party, need to have your heads examined. Shows are about business, and if you dont see that, maybe you're in the wrong business.

i don't think what happened is a bad thing... Darren, this industry is internet based and Jen has too much potential to be working for a "print" magazine. She was selling herself short and i am sure ppl will be fighting to have her and pay her double what she made at AVN...

Good Luck Jen!

Oh and i think the players ball will would awesome to have the smaller shows... I do more biz at the smaller shows then at the big internext show...

Hey D$,

This is not AVN's first mistake and probably not their last!

I think you made the wise decision in standing behind Jen

I have seen how hard she worked over the years and how loyal she has been to the AVN cause. But I guess loyality and dedication doesn't mean what it use to.

Tell Jen she has my best wishes and I know she will do bigger and better things.

I with you guys ALL THE WAY

This just ain't right... I've got no idea WTF Fishbein and those fuckers are thinking, but Jenn was never anything less than world-class professional in my working with her.

D$, It doesn't seem quite right to say you've got my sympathies -- you/Jenn don't need 'em. She's gonna bounce back, faster and higher than ever. But you've definitely got me fuckin' amped up... Jenn was one of 2 people on the magazine side of that place who didn't have their heads embdedded neck-deep in their colons. We're talking about a woman who skipped the Phoenix show entirely, just to make sure the magazine got done. I weep for the future of that dysfunctional playpen...

VERY surprising, but in this case, change looks like it will benefit you guys BIG time. No need to say good luck, as you 2 will not need it.

I am looking forward to seeing where Jenn takes here valuable rolodex and what direction the Players Ball takes.

I say you to take a little to make some mini D's and J's.

Hey Darren, this is a good thing! Tell her we all support her and you of course...
You will be much more powerful together without some "boss" to deal with.

This is just another reason EVERYONE should attend the PlayersBall in San Diego coming up. Let's put it in AVN's face about what they are losing. Everyone come and show up to make a statement. :-)

Listen to some reggae Darren, makes ya happy happy joy joy Playa!

Jen has always been nothing short of a class act to work with. She was always professional and went out of her way to accomodate the needs of the companies that I have worked for. My "guess" would be that she is the reason that a great many advertisers stay with AVN.

I have little doubt that she will (already has) move on to bigger and better things. I would imagine that this is the best thing that could have happened to her and I hope wherever she ends up, that I can resume doing business with her.

She is top notch.

Good Luck to you Jen.

D$,

we are all looking forward to your San Diego Player's Ball. I will see you there. I do hope that you hit up the smaller shows in the future. I look forward to those and get more business done at them. Webmaster Access is a great venue.
