hey Mike South...Alec Helmy here...

RE: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=701086

As far as me somehow facilitating .XXX to get approved - heh, as if I have that kinda power - thanks, I'm flattered.

Believe it or not, no one within the adult industry has the power to get .XXX approved.

What XBIZ has done is facilitate an open dialogue with a TLD that may get approved and has the power to impact our industry.

We can either turn a blind eye or instead try to learn about its plans, ask questions and do whatever we can to influence its direction for the best interest of the industry - I along with many others prefer the latter, as is evident in the number of folks attending the event.

I had Acacia on my live talk show a while back, d-moneyshow.com.

Lot's of people were pissed that I gave them a platform to explain themselves and take questions prepared by our industry.

In the end, it turned out to be a very good thing. I got them to state on the record a bunch of things, which they've never stated before that time.

It benefited the industry that I had them speak on my live show. I'm sure if you ask Homegrown and the rest of the people fighting the fight, they'd agree that was a good move too.

OK Guys Alec doesnt want to answer this because he can do one of two things

He can lie and hope nobody knows the truth or he can be honest and take his licks.

Thats why he wont answer. I have a very trusted source who has told me

"I don't care what Alec tells you financially he is heavily vested in .XXX" this source is in a very unique position to know.

If I were advertisinf on xbiz...I would stop personally.

LOL who is Mike South....who cares... It appears to me that XBiz cares very much

I agree, I think some horse shit and window dressing is going on here. It's really not a hard question to answer.
If you are convinced that what you believe in is that great, you would be proud to admit it and talk about why you feel this way.
The same for the flipside, If you are convinced that what you believe in is not that great, you would be proud to admit it and talk about why you feel this way.

It seems we have only seen one side and that is the side of the people opposing .xxx.

I do not support .XXX because of the various concerns and unknowns already discussed on the boards.

Should it get approved, it'll be best to try to influence its direction - and not for financial gains.

Alec

Gawd you sound like a political statement Alec...

Your concern for the adult industry is awesome, together with your assumptions that a .XXX TLD will get approved, - but, that was not the question which was raised.

The question was whether you personally support the proposal for .XXX TLD's and whether any businesses which you own, or have any interest in, are possibly going to recieve funds from the sale of the proposed new .XXX TLD's.

Regarding the courtesy XBiz has extended to Lawley, an individual who is not even in this industry, by giving him a platform to spew his views is most gracious. I'm sure Stuart will be appreciative of the credence kindly granted by XBiz and that he will, like always, be an open book and explain all his "plans" and expound his moral values and concerns for the children of this planet. XBiz have excelled themselves and the only saving grace is that XBiz do not represent the adult industry.

On the topic of "turning a blind eye" - this does appear to fall more within your province when you are unable to state whether you support the introduction of .XXX TLD's or not. It must be a hard decision.

Thanks for finally coming forward with a few things that make your stance a little more concrete. But do you or companies your associated with get any piece of the money from any or all .xxx domains registered. Yes or no will do.

like d$ said, excluding the acacia's and icm registry's of the world from discussions is an isolationist reflexive mentality. .xxx is a stupid concept for the health of the industry and XPays is totally against the .xxx extension; but, why is it so difficult to grasp the concept of companies hedging their bets?

when stephen from xbiz was mentioning yesterday here that there were some industry players with a stake in .xxx domains- he should have named the names. Other than that, these stake-holders are just hedging. .xxx disappears and they win, .xxx appears and they win. there is no conspiracy and it is just business. the leap that .xxx will be the standard and the industry will be forced to migrate is some chicken-little doomsday shit and highly irrational imho.

and keep in mind icm/hendeles were seeking strategic partners early on and they were rumoured to be offering stock to some toronto-based big-whigs and others. xbiz should name the names since they apparently know who the industry players are that hold stock in .xxx.

I am not attending this seminar to let them tell me how to proceed with anything. I am attending this event to potentially confront him on his shady way of attempting to make money. None of his "reasons" are holding water. The reason he is doing this is money and money only.

How can a blog filled with so much ranting, raving, profanity, and general "what-the-fuckedness" be controversial? He's mainstream, I'd argue. I think my grandmother reads it.

I just had to google it myself. Wikipedia had some info on it.

My guess is everyone will have to register their domains again and it may end up being first come first serve.

Anyone one want to back that up or correct it?

South will be VERY lucky if the only owning he gets is on the boards, and not in the court for libel. I'd laugh my ass off as the stood there and said, "But I thought I *knew* what satire was! You mean, that isn't what I did, and I can't hide behind it?"
