:stop Official .XXX petition thread. If you are against .XXX, step inside

Last year, a pretty good list of companies and individuals against .xxx sent me email/icq to include them on the online public petition at http://www.FightTheDotXXX.com

I faxed, emailed, and overnighted the list along with a multipage letter expressing opposition to ICANN before their board meeting to vote on .XXX.

I will do the same again since we have time, and the message from ICANN"s recent post suggests, that there is some growing doubt of whether the adult community really wants .XXX

You and I know the adult community doesn't want this, but 24 adult companies gave signed letters saying otherwise, and probably claimed to represent thousands of affiliate webmasters. Some companies that gave support in the past have changed their position, but they are still being counted.

If you did support .XXX with a letter and have changed your mind, please write a letter to express that you did support before and changed your mind now. If you would like, email me that you wish to write this letter and i'll reply back with my fax # so I can include it in a package to ICANN.

Sponsors - post up here that you are against .XXX, stating your company name and how you feel about .XXX also, email your affiliates to send an email to: [email protected] to express how they feel about things.

Affiliates - express your concerns about .XXX by posting up in this thread and sending in your thoughts to: [email protected]

I will summarize the names and comments from this thread to send to ICANN.

I'll give the thread about a week before i summarize the list to send, so that it can be submitted ahead of the March 26th meeting.

Polish Aristocrat first posted up this entry on ICANN.. a good read.. it shows that some members of ICANN are questioning who is the sponsored community, and noting that alot of adult companies don't want .XXX despite the perceived support that was demonstrated through 24 letters from adult companies:

http://www.icann.org/minutes/prelim-report-12feb07.htm

So this is probably the last time to get out on public record. I know many don't like .XXX, but are keeping quiet because of traffic deals you may have with those that support it.

Business will go as usual if .XXX doesn't pass.. take a stand

Fight the .XXX!

great thread, but keep in mind that ICANN may open a new forum for 3 weeks to discuss the changes in the .xxx agreement again (or did I read it wrong yesterday?)

in that case, it's possible that they already stopped looking at the current forum and will look at the new forum in a few days should it open indeed

and the e-mail adress that you specified above won't be valid anymore, the new forum wil have a different adress

Dave Cummings Productions, and Dave Cummings, is adamantly opposed to .xxx, as well as to the pending ICM Registry proposals, but will support .kids.

Dave Cummings Productions plans to support the type efforts/comments noted by JMM/SunUp Media and Steve LightSpeed/Lightspeed Media Group in their above postings.

The .XXX fight goes on! The WOOF will bite again soon. Bite back with me.

As the .XXX battle goes further, I have learned my role. SHould I be on the front lines dealing with peoples? Should I stay the big mouth I am and continue to do what I do best? Hmmmmmn. Me wonders? What I learned at the show, and by talking to alot of the more "controlled" and "level headed" businessmen involved was that I am best kept away from sharp objects, things that break easily, delicate little daisies, and sensitive, fragile, strategic moves by everyone opposed to .XXX. What I realized is that I am best utilized disseminating information and keeping the troops motivated on shit. Kinda like an un-gay cheerleader of sorts. .XXX is still on the chopping block, be prepared to see many more people than me getting people active in their community. The army is growing. It ain't over till WE say. It's obvious ICANN does and will listen to what the "little people" have to say as we all have been called. The "big fish" are alone and they can't use their voice because they are all hiding in premeditated victory. It's time to get stronger against this. 50000 piranha against 24 sharks with no teeth would be no match. Thats my rant and I'm sticking to it.

Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Fight the toothless sharks.

Brandon wouldn't it mean more than you presenting these names of companies to ICANN. If they took a few minutes and wrote a quick letter of opposition. Some big companies on this list and I think it would show really well for our case.

Add Housewivescash.com to the list of being AGAINST the .xxx We feel that it will be used to unfairly block our sites from surfers, as well as labeling the adult industry in a more negative light than it already is.

remember the 24's have no voice to the masses. they have to hide from the industry and can't say who they are. bump every thread, start new ones often, every program owner in this thread should email their affiliate base and their members base of what is happening and word the letters accordingly. then write a handwritten letter to icann. cut and paste the handwritten letter and post it to the forum for public comments. email the letter to the icann heads, and then mail that sucker. i am positive that there are "big fish" that are telling icann that their entire affiliate base is FOR .xxx. think about it. if they are a "big fish" isn't about everyone one of their affiliates? people are speaking for you now. i don't know how you feel about that, but if i ever found out that i was personally being spoken for by a spnosor, it would irritate me more than a little.

Get proactive now as business owners.

have a great day.

Thanks, Tony404, I certainly don't disagree with your opinion; yes, letters to ICANN are extremely important, especially after reading the stuff in the Feb 12 ICANN Meeting Minutes.

I also am posting to the ICANN board tonight.

Already wrote them a very long letter emphasizing how much easier it will be to locate pornography online if .XXX is used. Bump for the cause.

I think the most important thing to remember, and this was blatantly obvious at the xxx seminar in Hollywood... These guys are masters of spin, they'll twist anything they get their hands on. Be VERY careful and very guarded about what you say and make sure it cannot be misconstrued into support in ANY way shape or form!

Homegrown Video are still very much against .xxx!
