Seems the issue was the breach of privacy by exposing confidential information that was stored not the actual intent of finding out their information to combat piracy. All law firms, plaintiffs and defendants have to be extremely careful about handling confidential information in any lawsuit and there are liabilities that come along with not doing that. I think most law firms with experience would not even risk exposing private information.
