If you took the REAL percentage of porn models who have been abused and the REAL percentage of non-porn-models who have been abused (you'd need a consistent definition of what "abused" is), I suspect that you'd find that the abuse gap is not as large as you think, ie I suspect that models are more likely to have been abused, but your estimate of 80% is too high and your implied (presumably much lower) estimate for the general population is too low

In a completely unrelated story - people will always use an excuse to justify their actions.

I worked with hundreds of nurses during that time, and I can honestly say that the % of women in BOTH professions is high for abuse, both in childhood and adult lives.

There is plenty of abuse going on out there all the time. Men get abused, women, children, and it doesn't matter what job they hold. Weather it's a movie star or famous singer, a doctor or lawyer, cop, carpenter, model, used car salesperson or someone working in adult.... there is abuse.

Btw, if i ever addressed the health care community with this issue I believe the chances of me calling them 'fuckers' are quite minimal.

Yes, but I have also worked in the Health Care industry and several other areas..... and I seen a lot of it in the Health Care Industry as well.. if I had to make a guess, I'd say there were AS many, if not more in that one than there is this one. On my medical records, it has that my health is shit and I should probably never work again, all stemming from a majority of childhood shit I got and caused permenant damage..... and I was turned down on my disability claim because I refused to let them operate. I wanted/NEEDED to help my husband with the income and set out to do just that, I decided I was going to work from home, raise my kids myself and help him with that, AND it's kind of hard to get a job when the Docs have all added that little tidbit to your medical history...... so while setting out to find something online to do, we were watching a thing on TV one night and they had a couple on there that was making a fortune in the Adult Industry...... so that's where I chose to be.

I didn't choose to be in the industry BECAUSE of my abuse, I chose it because it was a means to help him pay the bills. Yeah I could have gone back to school and gotten a degree and all of that, but that wasn't going to help pay the bills and even so, with my medical history, it probably wouldn't have done a damn bit of good. So this is where I am...... and it isn't and never has had anything to do with abuse, it is to do with it pays my bills and takes some of the pressure off of him. Raising 4 kids isn't cheap, you know?

Your original post was about physical/sexual abuse..... and there is a large % of women that have been either physically or sexually abused. What SOME may see as abuse, isn't really abuse at all, so you have to allow for that...... getting your ass whipped or being told "no, you can't go to that party" is NOT abuse, but if you talk to some, they will tell you their parents were horrible and emotionally abused them and so on.

People see abuse as many different things, strict parents are not abusive parents........ making them clean their room isn't abusive. Being beaten until you bleed or being forced to be touched in private places, THAT is abuse.

My greatest memory as a mom was when my oldest who is now engaged, came to me and thanked me for being a mom that cared enough to TEACH her responsibility and giving her my best. She no longer thinks she was abused because she had to clean her room, but boy, for about 2-3 years there, she sure as hell did.

Groove Confirmed User Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 3,852	If you took the REAL percentage of porn models who have been abused and the REAL percentage of non-porn-models who have been abused (you'd need a consistent definition of what "abused" is), I suspect that you'd find that the abuse gap is not as large as you think, ie I suspect that models are more likely to have been abused, but your estimate of 80% is too high and your implied (presumably much lower) estimate for the general population is too low
