Certain sponsors were requested to remove the option is all to keep CB's at a reasonable level. As yet it's not an across the board thing.

Classmates cross sold me to a company called MWI Homeworks

and I have been fighting with the bank, and them for three mos-

The funniest part about this is that they claime I had a pre checked box on the join form that I opted for-

I explained to them I wasn't born yesterday and what I did for a living....The customer service agent buckled under pressure and admitted that Classmates sold my CC info to MWI.

Now do I have a legal argument to screw Classmates.com ????

I am hearing that B of A has had it with this scam- I'd like to bring a class action lawsuit against Classmates

anyone here have a similar experience????

Wow.. Thanks for the 411 KBizzle.. I should check my records..

As far as the Epoch thing...

From what Rand said... It is not a system wide change.. Just a few accounts..

Someone should ICQ him to explain..

Chris had a really good post on here which explained that only certain accounts would be affected. It's a shame that GFY lost the body of this thread including Chris' reply.

I signed up for ABC "news on demand" video service -- and the only way to cancel recurring billing is by calling a 1-800 number, and only during regular business days/hours.

Wish we could do that one.

Same exact thing happened to me, and I didn't notice it for 2 years. Some annual charge of about 150 bucks or something and when I called about it, they fought me about giving me the money back. I don't think I ever received the credits

they had quite the elaborate scam let me tell you-
They started off charging me $9.95 a month-
I didn't notice the charges

Then they brazenly charged me $199.95 and I SAW THAT and went nuts-

Got me going through a year's worth of statements and sure enough they kept hitting the credit card every month at different prices-

Once you block the Company with B of A all they can do is make sure that the charge for $9.95 be stopped- but if they change the amount it still goes through

The customer service at MWI kept me on hold longer than Girls Gone Wild customers wanting their money back-

It was just the most disturbing scenario.

Every month I kept getting new charges from MWI essentials, and MWI simple Escapes-

Different companies with my same account info-

I am going to fuck these bastards long and hard...watch.

Even better... I signed up for Yahoo hosting a few years ago. To cancel the recurring, I have to call a long distance number during business hours.

I'm still being billed for it.

Whatever way you look at it what they are doing is fraud.

Stuff the class action - go to the cops.

Mainstream companies are even more aggressive and dirty than adult companies and yet we're the ones under the knife from the credit card companies.

Be good to see pre-checked cross sells banned completely: then people might have to start focussing on keeping their members instead of hoping to sneak through some extra $$$ before burning them.

I got a credit report for which I paid $9.95 so that I would not have to cancel some bullshit credit watch membership. Well, lo and behold, 31 days later I get charged $99.99 for a "Platinum Credit Watch" membership. In order to charge it back, I had to fax a written statement to my bank and had to go through 5 phone calls totalling over 3 hours
Needless to say that the credit report company gave me the run around and gave me no choice but to charge back...
